Best, worst of Super Bowl XXXVIII

Observations from last night's telecast of Super Bowl XXXVIII, which (sorry, Eagles fans) was great.

Illegal Procedure: Justin Timberlake ripped off Janet Jackson's top at the end of the halftime show. Suddenly, Michael's not looking so bad.

Winner of Rodney Dangerfield Lookalike Contest: New England offensive coordinator Charlie Weiss

Best commercials: The "American Chopper Dudes" AOL commercials, the "Monkey on your back" Dodge ad, the kids getting their mouths washed out with soap for Chevrolet, "Randy the Supply Nazi" for Staples, the Homer Simpson Mastercard ad, the referee getting yelled at by the coach and his wife for Budweiser.

Worst commercials: The old people tripping each other for Lays potato chips, the farting horse for Bud Light, the monkey hitting on the lady for Bud Light.

Should get chewing gum endorsement: Carolina head coach John Fox

NFC Championship game deja vu moment: When DeShaun Foster ran through the Patriots defense for a touchdown.

Twinge of jealousy moment: When Patriots receiver David Givens beat up Ricky Manning Jr.

Twinge of jealousy moment redux: When Phil Simms mentioned how Delhomme can heave the ball up because his receivers will take it away from the defenders.

The Two Jakes: Carolina quarterback Jake Delhomme went from his team having no yards for much of the first half to passing for more than 300 yards.

Houston homecoming: Jim Nantz of CBS and Patriots running back Antowain Smith attended the University of Houston.

It's true! Another town has painful sports memories: In a pregame interview, President Bush mentioned the Phillies triumph over Houston in the NLCS in 1980.

Movie trailers: "Van Helsing" with Hugh Jackman, "50 First Dates" with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore, "The Alamo," "Starsky and Hutch" with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson, "Secret Window" with Johnny Depp, "Hildago" with Viggo Mortensen, "The Ladykillers" with Tom Hanks, "Troy" starring Brad Pitt.

Right coach, wrong network: John Fox

Soundtrack: Ads used the songs "Rock and Roll" by Led Zeppelin, "I Feel Love" by Donna Summer, "Ballroom Blitz" by The Sweet, "Magic Carpet Ride," "Lady" by Styx, "I Fought The Law and the Law Won," and "Purple Haze" by Jimi Hendrix.
