SURFING Rich and Jill together again? Former WTXF news anchor Rich Noonan, who is running his own production company, said he'd love to work with former co-anchor Jill Chernekoff. BY LAURA NACHMAN Courier Times Former WTXF news anchor Rich Noonan, who is running his own production company, said he'd love to work with former co-anchor Jill Chernekoff, who just launched her own company, Chernekoff Communications - http://www.chernekoffcommunications.com - which provides speech and presentation training. "I could definitely see our companies having synergy," he said. That's in contrast to reports that the two were barely on speaking terms before Chernekoff departed the station late last year. Meanwhile, Noonan said he's received calls from every state in the country after news of his racial discrimination complaint against WTXF was made public. "I've also received plenty of calls of support from former co-workers at Fox." The Noonan story made it to the White House, as a radio reporter asked White House Press Secretary Ari Fleischer about President Bush's stance on racial discrimination in his daily briefing last Friday. Fleischer answered that the president's position is that people should be hired on the basis of merit. NPR STAR Levittown native and Pennsbury High School graduate
Howard Berkes is in his second decade with National Public Radio. Based
in Salt Lake City, Utah, national correspondent Berkes broke the Salt
Lake City Olympics bribery story.
WTXF general manager and Vice President Roger LaMay
quashed rumors that he had lunch with KYW anchor Larry Kane recently to
discuss Kane joining WTXF to head its political coverage. LaMay said,
"I think the last time I had lunch with Larry was in 1997."
Kane returned to the newsroom Monday for the first time after it was
announced that former WPVI "deputy" Marc Howard becomes the
"sheriff" and will anchor the KYW 11 p.m. news beginning in
January. Though Kane's contract runs through the end of 2003, most
observers don't expect him to play second fiddle to Howard.
