610-AM sports personalities Mike Missanelli and Joe Conklin signed a
deal with rock station WMMR 93.3-FM to host the morning show from 6 a.m
to 10 a.m. Missanelli, who worked at the sports talk station for over a decade, had been working without a contract at WIP for two years. For most of his tenure he worked the afternoon drive shift, but was downgraded to mid-days last year. Conklin, the zany voice man of the WIP morning show for 10 years, left the station by mutual decision a couple of months ago. Almost immediately after leaving WIP, Conklin's name surfaced for the WMMR morning show which needed to be revamped after the departure of Barsky. No official word yet, but station insiders say it's a lock that Steve Martorano will replace Missanelli on mid-days with Anthony "Ant" Gargano from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sports guy "Vinnie the Crumb" will remain on WMMR's morning show, but interim co-host Graeme will move to another shift on WMMR. Though the new WMMR morning show seems top-heavy with sports personalities, sources say music will be part of the mix. They'll be going for that same 25-54 year old male demographic that WIP covets. |
