'Dream Job' contestant lands job with USBL

Michael Quigley may not have gotten the "Dream Job" on ESPN, but he parlayed his exposure on the reality series into a professional position as the radio announcer for the Pennsylvania Valley Dawgs of United States Basketball League.

The Lansdowne resident, who celebrated his 41st birthday Thursday, got the job shortly after his elimination from "Dream Job" this spring. Because he owns his own auto parts business, Quigley has no problem getting off work for his assignment with the Valley Dawgs, who are coached by former Sixer Darryl Dawkins. Coincidentally, Dawkins is a contributor to ESPN2's "Cold Pizza," hosted by "Dream Job" judge Kit Hoover.

"It's fun," Quigley said. "People at the games and players recognize me from the show." Quigley added that WPHL news director Chuck Carter contacted him about the sports vacancy at Channel 17.

Quigley gave updates on some of his "Dream Job" competitors:

Shaggy haired Zachariah Selwyn will be hosting "Extreme Dodgeball" on the Game Show Network in June.

Casey Stern (the short one) is working part-time for Major League Baseball's Web site.

Comic Nick Stevens is doing humorous commentaries for ESPN radio in New York
ESPN will do a "Dream Job 2" in January.

Flyers, Flyers and more Flyers

Game 4 of the NHL Eastern Conference finals between the Flyers and Lightning will air on ABC at 3 p.m. Saturday. Comcast SportsNet will air "Flyers Pre Game Live" and "Flyers Post Game Live" before and after the contest with the CSN line of Michael Barkann, Al Morganti and Keith Jones.

Horse play

Philadelphia Park's Smarty Jones (no relation to Keith) will be in the spotlight again at the Preakness Stakes on NBC at 6 p.m. Saturday. Bob Costas and Tom Hammond will co-host the broadcast.
