| Breaking
news from WCAU - Tim Lake has been named the permanent 4, 6, and 11 p.m.
weekday news anchor effective immediately, joining Renee Chenault-Fattah.
Lake, who only a year ago was demoted from his 5 p.m. anchor position to
reporter took over the 6 and 11 p.m. newscasts from Larry Mendte,
who was pulled off the air at the end of April due to a contract dispute
with station management. After Lake filed suit against WCAU, management reinstated him to the 5 p.m. news, and when things got testy with Mendte, he was moved up to the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. shows. The news makes it a certainty that Mendte's days with WCAU are over. Ironically, it will probably be Mendte, not Lake who will end up at KYW. Mendte's six-year contract with WCAU expires in August, and he did not have a "no-compete" clause, which means he can work for another station in town. No word on who will take over Lake's 5 p.m. anchor role at WCAU. Lake joined WCAU in 1992. |
